چکیده
Members of the family Ectothiorhodospiraceae form a distinct lineage from Chromatiaceae on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (Imhoff and Süling, 1996). Among the 13 genera recognized in the family Ectothiorhodospiraceae, only 4 genera (Ectothiorhodosinus, Ectothiorhodospira, Halorhodospira and Thiorhodospira) are represented by members of true phototrophic species (http://www.bacterio.cict.fr/ classifgenerafamilies.html#Ectothiorhodospiraceae). All the phototrophic members of the family Ectothiorhodospiraceae accumulate sulfur granules outside the cell and thus are phenotypically distinct from the members of the Chromatiaceae (Imhoff, 2005). Members of the genus Halorhodospira (Halorhodospira halophila, Halorhodospira halochloris and Halorhodospira abdelmalekii) are represented by most halophilic phototrophic species, while the genera Ectothiorhodosinus (Ectothiorhodosinus mongolicus; Gorlenko et al., 2004) and Thiorhodospira (Thiorhodospira sibirica; Bryantseva et al., 1999) are represented by single J. Description of Astragalus barnasariformis sp. nov. from Iran
A new species of Astragalus is described: Astragalus barnasariformis sp. nov., Maassoumi, F. Ghahrem. & Bagheri. It is endemic to Zanjan province in northwestern Iran. Morphological evidence supports taxonomic placement of the new species in Astragalus sect. Trachycercis. The species appears to be most closely related to A. barnasari Grossh. and A. chalilovii.
متن کاملA synopsis of the genus Rheum (Polygonaceae) in Iran with description of three new species
According to previous studies, the genus Rheum in Iran includes four species: R. turkestanicum Janisch., R. persicum Losinsk., R. ribes L. and R. khorasanicum Baradaran & Jafari. During the long-term study, based on field and many herbaria specimens, three new species including R. iranshahrii Taheri & Assadi sp. nov., R. kordestanicum Taheri & Assadi sp. nov. and R. austro-iranicum Taheri & Ass...
متن کاملGenome Sequence of the Photoarsenotrophic Bacterium Ectothiorhodospira sp. Strain BSL-9, Isolated from a Hypersaline Alkaline Arsenic-Rich Extreme Environment
The full genome sequence of Ectothiorhodospira sp. strain BSL-9 is reported here. This purple sulfur bacterium encodes an arxA-type arsenite oxidase within the arxB2AB1CD gene island and is capable of carrying out "photoarsenotrophy" anoxygenic photosynthetic arsenite oxidation. Its genome is composed of 3.5 Mb and has approximately 63% G+C content.
متن کاملEctothiorhodospira variabilis sp. nov., an alkaliphilic and halophilic purple sulfur bacterium from soda lakes.
During studies of moderately halophilic strains of Ectothiorhodospira from steppe soda lakes, we found a novel group of bacteria related to Ectothiorhodospira haloalkaliphila with salt optima at 50-80 g NaCl l(-1). Phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequences of strains from soda lakes in Mongolia, Egypt and Siberia revealed separation of the group of new isolates from other Ectothiorhod...
متن کاملCloning a gene encoding a light-harvesting I polypeptide from Ectothiorhodospira sp.
Trying to detect the genes coding for light harvesting II polypeptides of the purple bacteria Ectothiorhodospira sp. a gene corresponding to a light harvesting I polypeptide was cloned. This paper discusses the probable reasons of this result. The sequence of this polypeptide underlines the strong similarity with light harvesting complexes from bacteria such as Rhodospirillum molischianum and C...
